On entendait au loin les dents de métal claquer, faire tomber
des lambeaux de chair dans un vacarme qui annonçait une métamorphose ;
des os brisés en petits morceaux pour un but ordinaire, rassemblés
en tas, attendant qu’on les récupères.
Dans une allée d’ombre, sous les arbres, des peaux laissées à l’abandon
s’effritaient encore quelque peu de leurs cicatrices. Elles repoussaient
les restes d’une violence mécanique et rythmée, se végétalisant de
nouveau pour lier leurs cellules. Falaise vacillante dont on ne veut plus.
Une étoffe y tentait de sauvegarder l’image qui s’en évanouit sous un soleil
brûlant.
BodyBlue#1 est une première recherche iconographique cadrée sur les formes
du minéral. En teinture végétale, et par réaction ferrogallique, elle
retranscrit les reliefs de la paroi d’une carrière en activité sur un
textile de trois mètres par deux.
Une prise unique, tant dans la parcelle
instable empruntée qui disparaît plus vite que le minéral ne l’avait prévu ;
ainsi que dans le geste qui capture, celui d’une main naturellement
incapable de produire des copies parfaite.
L’œuvre est une combinaison de deux matières qui se rencontrent doucement
dans une autre, tentant de corréler leurs temporalités si éloignées.

In the distance, one could hear the clattering of metal teeth, tearing away
shreds of flesh in a clamour that announced a metamorphosis; bones shattered
into small pieces for a common purpose, gathered in piles, waiting to be collected.
In a shady lane, beneath the trees, abandoned skins were still flaking away
from their scars. They were pushing back the remnants of a mechanical,
rhythmic violence, regrowing vegetation to bind their cells together.
A crumbling cliff that no one wants anymore.
A piece of fabric there attempted to preserve the image that was fading away under a
scorching sun.
BodyBlue#1 is an initial iconographic study framed around mineral forms. Using
vegetable dyes and a ferrogallic reaction, it transcribes the reliefs of the wall
of an active quarry onto a three-by-two-metre textile.
A single snapshot,
both of the unstable borrowed patch that vanishes faster than the mineral had
anticipated; and of the capturing gesture itself, that of a hand naturally
incapable of producing perfect copies.
The work is a combination of two materials that gently meet within another,
attempting to correlate their vastly different temporalities.
